On September 24th, Urban Green Line held our website launch party at Hackney City Farm as part of London Design Festival 2011. This day celebrated the announcement of the launch of www.urbangreenline.org and the future of a greener and more sustainable London.
While we implement our insights from the first Urban Green Line workshop at Hackney City Farm last Tuesday, we just wanted to share some pictures (by Mint Jarukittikun) from a great evening. Many ideas centered around building an app and ‘what’s around me’ feature, facilitating input, getting both creative and consistent with what’s on the map and just plain getting started.
We will have another workshop on April 23rd May 7th and hope you will make room in your calendar for this community event — it will be open to everyone willing to co-create.
Workshop participants:
- Antonno Versteeg, Founder of Entertain & Sustain, @antonno
- Corinna Luther, Talk Action
- Gustavo Montes de Oca, Environment and Enterprise Manager of Hackney City Farm, @hackneycityfarm, @goldengus
- Jason P. Fields, User Experience Design Strategist, app.itize.us, @appitizeus
- Maria Jeannson, Urban Green Line, MA Innovation Management, Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design
- Mayra Frank, Urban Green Line, MA Innovation Management, Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design

Thanks to those who came on Tuesday, amazing to see this group create so much in only 4 hours.
Urban Green Line workshop
We have confirmed our 10 participants for tomorrow’s workshop, can’t wait to get started on the map! We had a massive response and will be doing another session on April 23rd so everyone can take part. More to come soon.
Help create the Urban Green Line !
We’re about to create the next evolution for the Urban Green Line — creating the website and mobile app that will connect our green spaces, organisations and communities here in Hackney and the rest of London.
The backbone of this development is the Urban Green Line map — so hopefully you’ll be interested in creating it with other greenliners!

we are still alive & this is not a gateway
Yes, we haven’t been active in a while on this forum. But we are still commited offline, planning for some great things. These great things are connected to our digital presence. We will keep you posted on what is happening, so keep your calenders ready. If you want to engage in conversations around greening/public space/creative urban interventions - come to This Is Not A Gateway (http://thisisnotagateway.squarespace.com/). It is a three day festival, starting tomorrow (22nd of October) with 80 different activities creating dialogue about the city. We are represented on Sunday, 24th of October, we are having a soap box, 5 min pitch, with five other participants from 10:30 - 11:30 at the Match Stick Hall. It would be lovely to have people there to critique and comment on Urban Green Line in order to bring us to the next level.
